Where is the software held?
All the Arithmo software sits on a large web server contained within a purpose built
facility near Bristol. Click here for details.
How do I access the system?
The system is web based software, so all you need is a web browser and an internet connection. You
simply navigate to the Arithmo web page as you would any other website. As you need various parts of the
system they are sent to your web browser as with a standard web page.
Which web browsers will it work on?
Arithmo should work on most web browsers, and on Mac or PC. Browsers we know work include Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox.
What if something goes wrong?
There have been no problems so far, but there are regular on- and off-site backups - every thirty minutes - so your data is safe. (See below for further details.) The system
itself is duplicated to a separate location.

The questions below relate to the operation of the Arithmo system.
How easy is Arithmo to use?
Arithmo has been designed as bookkeeping software that can be used without any bookkeeping or accountancy training. It has a very simple
interface that is logical and intuitive.
If is it easy to use, surely the output is too simple.
Even though it is easy to use, Arithmo has very powerful accounting and bookkeeping capabilities. In the background it is a
full double entry system, and has many features that you would expect to find in more expensive software. (Eg, Audit trails,
bank statement imports, trial balances etc.) Also, it has a full suite of reports designed to be easy to follow but still comprehensive.
Can I prepare my own accounts on Arithmo?
Whilst Arithmo is primarily a bookkeeping system, it allows you to prepare your accounts to trial balance stage, from which you
or your accountant can then finalise your accounts.
How do I see my data? Can I retrieve it?
Your data can be seen in a number of ways. First of all, you can view any previous transaction in its entirety. You may also view lists
of transactions and data entered. In addition, there are many reports available, and these can be viewed in a variety of formats including
on screen as PDFs and by downloading to a spreadsheet or word processor.
ACCOUNTANTS
The questions below relate to the operation of the Arithmo system.
How does Arithmo work for Accountants? How can our practice benefit?
Your practice would benefit in a number of ways. In terms of bookkeeping / accounting, your clients would be entering data in a
standard format; you would get access to it easily; you can make adjustments in the year; and you control the year end process.
In terms of your business, you would benefit from your clients being reassured that you were looking after their interests; your
practice logo is seen each time the system is used.
How can our clients benefit?
Your clients benefit in two main ways. First and foremost, they have a simple to use bookkeeping system, and this helps them
run their business more efficiently. Secondly, they have the peace of mind that you as their accountant can view and deal with
those records at any time.
Arithmo is easy to use. How much are accounting principles taken into account?
It is important to remember that it is only the interface shown to the user that is simplified. In the background, Arithmo is a full
double entry bookkeeping system, and follows all relevant accounting principles as you would expect. Attention has been paid to the
way the year end process is done, and all entries are fully recorded as part of the audit trail.
Would Arithmo have access to my clients' data?
No.
Arithmo has no access to your clients' data or your administration interface. Our developers will have a universal access to all data,
but, other than routine maintenance, this would only be used in exceptional circumstances and only with your agreement.
RESELLERS
The questions below relate to the operation of the Arithmo Reseller system.
How does Arithmo work for Resellers?
Arithmo is an online product that can be sold on a commission basis. The set up process is simple and you can be up and running very quickly.
All you need to do is include some information about Arithmo and link through to this site. If anyone then signs up via your own site you will earn
commission.
In addition, by arrangement and for an agreed fee we can create a fully branded site with your company logo and colours. Please ask for more information
about this option.
How does the commission structure work?
Can I sell Arithmo to anyone?
Yes.
What happens when I sign up a new Arithmo client?
From your site, the client would go to this Arithmo site or direct to the sign up page. If the person signs up, there is a
free trial period, after which payment is made. At this point, commission is calculated. This is then paid to you automatically
on a monthly basis.
If we create your own branded version it will include a unique sign up page. When a new client uses that page the fee
will be paid straight to your nominated account.
SECURITY
The questions below relate to the security aspects of the Arithmo system.
How secure is Arithmo?
We believe Arithmo is as secure as it is possible to make an online system. All the data entry pages are held in a secure area,
accessed using SSL encryption. This means that the information transferred is 'scrambled' as it is sent. At no point is information
held online in an unencrypted format. For more information click

All the information that is held on the webserver is backed up for security every thirty minutes.
Where is the data held?
The data is held in a secure, purpose built data centre. This is a high security facility and cannot be accessed without authorisation.

How reliable are the backups?
The backup process is checked regularly to ensure it is working correctly. Data can be restored fully within 24 hours in the event that it
is required.
Who can see the data?
As an individual, only you have access to your data. Arithmo cannot see it without your permission.
If you are using the Accountants version, only you and your accountant can see the details.
